Photo of the Week

I love red buckeye early in the year, even before it sends up stalks of firecracker blooms. This is the new photo of the week, made at the ULM Biological Station, Charles Allen Nature Preserve in February, 2017.

Please note that I have changed the “Photo of the Week” widget to a slideshow. And, because the caption will not accommodate enough text to give both common names and Latin names, I have settled on Latin names. Seems appropriate to me for budding Master Naturalists!

We’re on Facebook!

Welcome to our blog and thank you for subscribing. Now you can join our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/737231253137306/.

We had a very successful visit with Friends of Black Bayou last week. FOBB offered to be our fiscal agent until we get our own 501(c)(3) status. This is hugely helpful! It means that as soon as we get the details worked out, LMN-NE memberships and donations will be tax deductible.

Thank you, FOBB, for what promises to be a great partnership.

We also formed a committee to develop our Master Naturalists curriculum. Our next meeting is scheduled (see sidebar). I will get the curriculum committee together so that we can make a report at that meeting.
